ZUNI RESIDENCES

 

 

This development seeks to create a new mixed-use community within this well established neighborhood.  The proposal leverages a mix of housing types to reinforce the area's existing strength and diversity.  The planning takes full advantage of the existing context and amenities to enhance the living experience for new and existing residents.

 

The plan builds both physical and visual connections to the existing park across 52nd Avenue.  A small coffee shop / deli anchors the primary corner and supports the activities in the park.  A small, 12 unit mixed-use apartment building buffers the new and existing residences from the monolithic office tower immediately west of the site.  Fifteen town homes continue toward the east further blending the scale of the development to the existing single-family context.

 

Handprint Architecture is beginning to develop a contemporary vision for the architectural treatment of both the apartments and town homes as the project moves through the required rezoning process.
