MLK LIBRARY AND MUNICIPAL SERVICES

The new 30,000 Martin Luther King Jr. Library and Municipal Services Center is a beacon that focuses the energy of the redevelopment of “Original Aurora.”

The two-story facility is a distinctive signature destination. Coupled with an expansion of Fletcher Plaza, the building acts as the design precedent for the surrounding redevelopment. Family oriented, the building houses the Library, Aurora Police Department, and City offices. A projection screen enhances the colorful use of finish materials and creates a lively, social setting for all. The design presents a fantastic invitation for the community to utilize the public resources housed within.

Several departments are incorporated with the facility, providing service and support to the neighborhood.  Offices are purposefully primarily open, to engage, invite and enhance connection between client and patron.  Support spaces allow for daily staff contact and private consultation.

Project completed as Project Manager/Designer at Brendle APV.
